Grief & Loss

Quandary Peak Counseling

Psychologists located in Denver, CO

Grief is one of the most universal human experiences, and one of the most isolating. The people around us often want it to follow a predictable arc — shock, then sadness, then acceptance, then moving on. But grief rarely works that way. It loops, stalls, resurfaces when least expected, and sometimes settles in for much longer than anyone anticipated.

Grief & Loss Approach

Not all grief looks like bereavement. People grieve the end of relationships, the loss of identity, careers, physical capacity, or the futures they had expected. They grieve things they never had, or had and couldn't hold onto. They carry losses that others don't recognize as losses at all, which can make the experience even lonelier.

At Quandary Peak Counseling, we work with grief in all its forms — including complicated grief, anticipatory loss, traumatic bereavement, and the kind of loss that doesn't come with an obituary. We don't put a timeline on the process or assume that the goal is to stop grieving. Sometimes the goal is to grieve more fully, not less. We provide a space to do that without performance or pressure.
